Beloved Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a announcement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
A Notable Television Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous hit series, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.
Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
