The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of society through this complex and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
